new regulations for publications by HZB authors
For publications by HZB authors, there are new regulations, effective June 2009. As people sometimes put forward questions to the library about any differences between the regulations before and after the change, here are a few answers.
- The process of authorization and documentation of publications in a joint workflow, guided through in the PASTA application, does no longer exist.
- The authorization of publications is now done solely in the organizational unit (Organisationseinheit OE) to which the authors belong. The details of this process are determined in the OE.
- Documentation of publications by HZB authors continues to be exercised in PASTA
- Entries in PASTA are no longer done by the authors but by a person which is specifically authorized for such task by the head of the OE.
- Publications are entered into PASTA at the time when they have actually appeared in print.
- The library continues to collect copies of publications. If there is, in HZB, access to an electronic version of a publication, reference to that version will do.
- The library continues to collect electronic versions of publications which are deemed suitable for upload to the Centre's repository where they become publicly accessible. In many cases, suitable versions are author-generated "preprint" versions, not the publisher's versions. The library assesses the copyright of any publication before upload.
Details of the regulations can be found in the Publikationsordnung (in German), see also the information about Open Access at HZB.
