Since mid May 2011 there is one e-mail system for all at HZB. The Exchange Server 2010 has replaced the various mail servers at the HZB.
This provides the same up-to-date technique for all with considerably more storage space.
The entire e-mail traffic to the HZB is considered using one of the two Ironport servers, our e-mail gateway to the center. From there the e-mail is sent through the server dismtp.helmholtz-berlin.de to the new Exchange 2010 Server mail.helmholtz-berlin.de and delivered into the mailboxes.
The sender addresses with the domains @hmi.de or @bessy.de can no longer be used on the new server. Please inform your communication partners about the new address!
Also remember to update your addresses in mailing lists, forums and other systems in which you are a member.
To access your mailbox, you will have the following alternatives:
- You may use an email program with the IMAPS protocol
- You may use a Web browser with Online Web Access (webmail)
- You may use a mobile device (cell phone, PDA ...)
For exchanging large documents or files, please use alternative means such as the web services upload (to make your files available, also password-protected), sendmail (external use is possible) or iFolder.
