How to purchase a new workstation (PC)

The department FM-D provides the PC support at all HZB sites. It assists you in the procurement of a workstation computer (Windows or Linux) by purchasing and product advice and accompanies the acquisition until its first start at your the workplace.

Your way path to a new PC or laptop is short and easy, as long as you obey the following scheme:

 

  1. Select the standard hardware for a desktop workstation or notebook.
  2. Save the offer as a PDF file.
  3. Provide investment request (needed only with equipment over 1000 EUR).
  4. Order via e.biss  (free text order). Either specify computer name or the offer number and insert the offer as a PDF file.
  5. The goods are delivered to the reveiving office at Lise Meitner Campus and picked up by an employee of the service desk unit.
  6. Staff from our service desk unit will ask you how to install and configure (Workflow "new computer") the new system.
  7. The unit will be installed and set up according to the selected options.
  8. Unfortunately necessary for Windows: Please select and order additional software yo may need. Note that the operating system (Windows) and the Office package requires a license that have to be ordered via the software purchase portal.

All workstations are registerd by FM-D at the HZB network and will get an initial installation with Windows or Linux (not possible for laptops).

For first installation, even computers for the Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen campus (Adlershof) are supplied to the Lise Meitner campus in Wannsee.
