Computers running the Linux operating system based on the HZB standard are set up by the group Front office of FM-D. The installation of a complete system with all applications takes approximately 45 minutes.
The standard HZB Linux installation is a customized version of the openSUSE distribution. It will be installed on all desktop computers with Linux outside of the experiment VLANs. For these PCs centrally installed software is available. Updates are made automatically.
The PCs have full access to the central file server and backup systems. They are accesible using the personal HZB ID and internal password. They are integrated into the HZB ID management. With this, you may log on on all systems with your HZB ID and password only.
