In the middle of November 2008 BESSY and the former Hahn-Meitner-Intitut (HMI) merged to form the new Helmholtz-Zentrum für Materialien und Energie. The Helmholtz-Zentrum für Materialien und Energie has two sites, the Wilhelm-Conrad-Röntgen-Campus in Berlin Adlershof and the Lise-Meitner-Campus in Berlin Wannsee.
ASAXS in Condensed Matter Science will take place at the storage ring BESSY II in Adlershof.

By car from the Autobahn:
Exit Schönefelder Kreuz direction of Berlin Centrum, follow Adlergestell to Adlershof (Köpenicker Str.). From Funkturm via Stadtautobahn to the interchange "Dreieck Neukölln", follow the A113 (sign to Airport Schönefeld) to exit "Adlershof". The exit leads you directly on the "Ernst-Ruska-Ufer".
By public transport:
Due to the large distance within the city, taxi rides cost more than EUR 25,--. To get to BESSY by public transport it is recommended to use the S-Bahn. The nearest S-Bahn-Station is Adlershof. From there you walk 15 minutes to the premise of BESSY II, Einstein-Building.
