There will be two public lectures for people who are interested in complementary research possibilities of experiments with neutrons, synchrotron and ion radiation.

"Twelve years Proton Beam Therapy in Berlin

Being more than 19 years head of the Eye Clinic, Charité - Campus Benjamin Franklin, Prof. Dr. Michael Foerster is a leading expert in the field of eye tumours in the ocular fundus.These tumours are the result of an extremly malicious disease which not only menace the ability to see, but also but a patient in mortal danger. Patients with eye tumours are being treated with proton beams since June 1998 by the Universitätsklinikum Benjamin Franklin of the Freie Universität Berlin (now: Charité, Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Campus Benjamin Franklin) together with the Hahn-Meitner-Institut (now: Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie) in Berlin.


SNI GOES PUBLIC: Ethnologisches Museum Dahlem

On February 25th, 2010, 20.00 h Dr. habil  Ina Reiche (CNRS Louvre) will give a public lecture titled

" From LASCAUX to REMBRANDT:  our cultural heritage in the focus of scientific large scale facilities."

 

Dr. Ina Reiche studied Chemistry and History of Art at the Freie Universität Berlin, in Toulouse and at Sourbonne in Paris. In 2000, she received her doctor's degree at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie Paris VI in Materials Sciences. She worked as scientific officer at the Rathgen-Forschungslabor (RF) of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (SMB). Since 2003, she is a scientist at CNRS, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (National Center for Scientific Research), (C2RMF UMR 171 CNRS), Louvre, Paris.
