The European Commission Project ATHLET
Advanced Thin Film Technologies for Cost Effective Photovoltaics
From January 2006 to December 2009, our group is part of the European Commission project ATHLET (Proposal/Contract no.: 019670) which is co-ordinated by Prof. Dr. M. Lux-Steiner, head of the Department Heterogeneous material systems of the Hahn-Meitner-Institut.
In this project 24 participants from research institutes, universities and companies from 11 european countries are working together on thin-film solar cell and module technologies. For the first time, the two main approaches for thin-film solar cells namely silicon-based solar cells (amorphous, micro- and polycrystalline Si) and chalcopyrite compound semiconductors are followed in a joint project.
