Novel X-ray sources in operation or under development provide an increasing flux of coherent photons. As a result, interference-based techniques become for the first time available in this spectral regime. We develop techniques exploiting this coherence e.g. for holographic imaging at highest spatial resolution or femtosecond-snapshot imaging at extreme temporal resolution.
Often we combine these approaches with resonant scattering in order to deliver a specific spectroscopic sensitivity such as atomic, chemical or magnetic contrast, which is exploited to study functional nanomaterials.
