Software Q+A

Where can I find the data and the pdf-file of the CHOOCH evaluation of my edge scan?
Both are stored in a sub-directory accessible by the user. You can find your data (data_scan_yyyy-mm-dd-hh_mm.raw) and the automatically generated pdf-plot (scan_yyyy-mm-dd-hh_mm.pdf) under
/142dat/pxrdat/scans/today

There must be no extra copy stored on the beamline control PC.

May I use the dose-mode for the data collection?
No, please use time-mode in the marCCD software as dose-mode is not tested by now.

Where can I run the data processing jobs?
Use the maschine hkl2 for all XDS, HKL2000, iMOSFLM jobs.

I logged off from the BL-control PC, what should I do?
Bad luck. Depending on the the time inform the responsible BL scientist or the MX service and wait until you get support.

May I create sub-folders for my data directly in the MarCCD software?
Yes, you may add a sub-directory in path to create a single sub-layer in the directory tree. Do not try to create a subdivided path at once. This will crash the MarCCD software in a severe way that only the responsible BL scientist or the MX service can restart it.

Hardware Q+A

I lost the beam without changing the energy, what shall I do?
Check whether the storage ring is filled, whether the primary andsecondary beamshutters are open, whether the beamline is optimized (Io-chamber readout by get_intensity in The BL-control GUI), whether slit size is fine (standard 0.2 mm x 0.2 mm) and the dtb has been optimized (ChI and ChII readout). If things cannot be resolved call the BESSY-MX service.

I have no intensity after changing the energy by more than 1 keV, what shall I do?
Check whether or not storage ring is filled, check intensity in the ionization chamber (get_intensity in GUI). If everything is fine check intensity in the 2 ionization chambers (Ch1 and Ch2) of the MARdtb. If you don't have at least 100 cps in Ch1, open up the slits (sl1 and sl2) stepwise to maximum of 2 mm if required and repeat optimization of MARdtb with current slit settings. Close the slits stepwise (i.e. 1mm, 0.5 mm) and repeat the optimization. Finalize optimization with default slit values (0.2mm x 0.2mm).
