Institute for Nanometre Optics and Technology
The Institute for Nanometre Optics and Technology was founded in october 2010 to merge the former BESSY Optics Group and the Micro- and nanostrucured Optical Elements / AZM.
The Institute for Nanometre Optics and Technology offers the internationally acknowledged expertise of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin in the design, fabrication and metrology of advanced short-wavelength optics. The combination of experience and infrastructures as well as the high-level technical equipment facilitates the interdisciplinary research in metrology, physics of diffraction, surface technology as well as micro- and nano-structuring. This allows us to master the complex processes of developing of nanometre optics technologies and fabricating and characterizing high quality optical components and systems.
We cooperate with German, European and international universities and institutes and assist our industrial partners with the implementaion of new optical technologies. This comprises the initial design and modeling, passes into rapid prototyping and leads to support within the manufacturing process.
