Institute for Nanometre Optics and Technology

The Institute for Nanometre Optics and Technology was founded in October 2010 by the merger of the former BESSY Optics Group and the Micro- and Nano-strucured Optical Elements / AZM.

The institute offers internationally acknowledged expertise of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin in design, fabrication and metrology of advanced short-wavelength optics. It combines experience, infrastructures and high-level technical equipment, thus facilitating interdisciplinary research in metrology, diffraction physics, surface technology as well as micro- and nano-structuring. This allows us to master complex processes, such as developing nanometre optics technologies as well as fabricating and characterizing high quality optical components and systems.

We cooperate with German, European and international universities and institutes and assist our industrial partners with the implementation of new optical technologies - from the initial design and modelling to rapid prototyping right through to support within the manufacturing process.

2012 Workshop “Micro and Nano Science and Technology” (DESY, FZK, GSI, HZB)

will be held at the BESSY II facility of the HZB Berlin, Wilhelm-Conrad-Röntgen Campus,

on March 22nd and 23rd, 2012.

The workshop is a subtopic of the in-house research programme
"Science with Photons, Neutrons & Ions” (PNI)
,
organized within the framework of the programme-oriented funding of the Helmholtz Association (POF).

Please refer to the PROGRAMME and our FLYER for further information.
