This group is devoted to studies on the phase behaviour and dynamics of polymers solutions and colloidal suspensions. Investigations conducted at present include the rheology of suspensions and the spatial structure of polymers and colloids as probed by small-angle neutron and X-ray scattering as well as light scattering. This group is responsible for the new ultra-small angle beamline VSANS (V16).
Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) is used for the structural analysis of porous materials and colloidal suspensions. Examples are storage materials for Lithium-Sulfur batteries and the adsorption behaviour of proteins on functionalized microgels.
It runs the colloid physics user lab providing additional support for users studying colloidal systems (dynamic and static light scattering, zeta-sizer, analytical centrifugation, …).
