Technical User Support BESSY II: Research on matter with brilliant light sources

The technical user support offers the entire technical infrastructure required for operating the experimental stations at BESSY II to its users. On short term, electric power, cooling water and compressed air, as exhaust lines for non-hazardous and hazardous gases, liquefied nitrogen and liquid helium (upon request) are made available. On long term, design and construction of climated or noise reduced hutches is also part of our portfolio.

The technical support starts with the preparation of beam time, when beam time is allocated according to the proposals sent in. During the stay at BESSY II, the support also includes help unloading the experimental equipment, solving vacuum or other problems by offering spare parts for all kinds of the technical infrastructure involved. Support is also applied if additional pumping stages are needed or to detect vacuum leaks. The technical user support also keeps an eye on obeying all relevant rules concerning safety at work, and offers support and equipment to help obeying these rules.

During beam time technical support is offered by well experienced technicians, engineers and scientists, organized on a 24/7 basis. In addition, access to a small mechanical workshop and a chemistry laboratory can be made available.
