Call
The HZB User Coordination invites the submission of proposals for the next joint proposal round for the large scale facilities BESSY II and BER II for beamtime in 2013/II.
Next deadline for submission: 1 March 2013 23:59 (CET)
Proposal submission
Beamtime applications have to be submitted by using the online General Access Tool (GATE).
Users not yet registered in the HZB user data-base will have to do so before being able to apply for beamtime or to be included as a co-proposer.

Reviewing
The HZB Scientific Selection Panel (SSP) assesses the scientific merits of beamtime applications and gives recommendations for beamtime allocation. The decision is solely based on the information given in the porposals and, if applicable, on results, experimental reports and publications related to previous HZB experiments.
The next meeting of the SSP is on May 3rd, 2013.

BER II
Since the security check for gaining free entrance to the E-Hall might take up to 3 months, the HZB User Coordination strongly recommends to sent the required documents well in advance.
BESSY II
From August 2012 on the BESSY II experimental hall in total will be a controlled area for radiation safety reasons.
Please refer to the Top-Up radiation safety requirements for more information.
EC support for access to HZB
Users with affiliations within the EU or assiciated states might be eligible for support for travel and subsistence under programmes of the European Commission (EC). Priority is given to new groups and young researchers.
