BESSY II:
The call for the next proposal round for our synchrotron radiation facility BESSY II with beam time being allocated in the 2nd semester of 2012 (July 2012 to January 2013) with deadline for proposal submission on March 1, 2012 is OPENED.
BER II:
Due to the delayed restart of the reactor and a significant backlog of previous application rounds, the proposal round 2012/II for BER II will be omitted.

The regulations concerning the operation of the BESSY II beamlines have changed. Up to now, save for a few exceptions, the presence at the experiment of a least one group member was compulsory as long as the beamshutter was open. This strict rule does not apply any more. From now on, the presence is only compulsory if the experiment comprises components which are potentially hazardous, both to the beamline vacuum or to persons. Examples for such components are laser systems, gas cells, evaporator ovens, neutralisers for aerosols, radioactive substances exceeding the permitted limit, a.s.o.
The decision on wether the presence of one group member is compulsory or not will be taken following the information in the safety declaration form. Note that for groups not submitting a safety declaration form, the presence of one member will remain compulsory until the hazards of the experiment have been assessed by an HZB representative and a clearance has been spoken out.
