Operating cycles
The large scale facilities BER II and BESSY II are both running 24h per day - 7d per week. On a regular basis there are breaks for maintenance.
Beamtime allocation
For users of BER II neutron-scattering instruments, beamtime is allocated on a 24 hours basis; in general from 9:00 to 9:00 the following day.
For users of BESSY II instruments and stations, beamtime is allocated in days that might be broken down to shifts.
- early shift (7:00-15:00)
- late shift (15:00-23:00)
- night shift (23:00-7:00)
Detailed information on the status of HZB beamtime is available via GATE, but only for users connected with the respective beamtime.
