Institute Applied Materials

Institute

Work in the institute of materials focuses on the development, improvement and operation of imaging, scattering and diffraction methods to characterize structure and properties of materials. Based on the use of neutron, photon and electron probes which are coplementary with respect to their sensitivity on different length scales extending from atomic to macroscopic dimensions, experimental large-scale facilities are provided for the materials science community at universities, research institutes and in industry.

In-house research centers on the development and characterization of materials, especially light-weight materials. This work is carried out jointly with the group "Structure and Properties of Materials" at the Technische Universtität Berlin.
