The Institute for Accelerator Physics at HZB addresses the general improvement and the development of accelerator-based radiation sources. This includes the production, the acceleration and the manipulation of high brightness electron beams as well as the generation of high brilliance photon beams using spontaneous and seeded undulator radiation for user-orientated scientific research.

The specific interests are the performance optimization and steady evolution of the two user facilities: BESSY II and the Metrology Light Source. Additional tasks are the development and realization of  the 'energy recovery linac' concept accelerator bERLinPro and the BESSY II upgrade scheme BESSY VSR.

Accelerator physics: Cavity
