Stanford HZB Surface science with the Ewald

Together with the SUNCAT (SUstainable eNergy through CATalysis) Center for Interface Science and Catalysis located in Stanford at the SLAC National Accelerator Center in the USA, we have a research collaboration that is centered around experiments with the free-electron laser LCLS at SLAC. The research is partially financed through a Peter Paul Ewald-fellowship for Research with the Free-Electron laser LCLS granted by the Volkswagenstiftung.

Our research is conducted inside a bigger collaboration together with people from the Fritz-Haber Institute in Berlin, University of Hamburg, University of Stockholm and the Stanford University.

The main goal of this research line is to study femtochemistry, i.e. chemistry on small molecules adsorbed on surfaces that is induced by femtosecond laser pulses. Uniquely, we enhance the information on the femtochemical dynamics by using RIXS as an ultrashort probe.
