flexRIXS
The flexRIXS endstation is optimized for resonant inelastic soft x-ray scattering (RIXS) on liquids. It includes a differentially pumped main chamber with a liquid jet in vacuum and a Rowland-type RIXS spectrometer (XES 300). It is used for complementary investigations at BESSYII for steady-state studies and at the X-ray free electron laser Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS).
Figure 1: Schematic layout of the fleaxRIXS end station for steady-state and time-resolved optical laser pump and soft x-ray probe spectroscopy. The set up includes a high-resolution x-ray emission spectrometer in Rowland geometry and a liquid jet.
Figure 2: Top view of the flexRIXS end station as attached to the LCLS SXR beamline. The optical pump laser (dashed red) can be coupled in through the LCLS SXR. The fluo-rescence (orange) is emitted where the x-rays impinge on the jet and is deflected on the grating to the detector.
flexRIXS is one of the main end stations used for the investigation of molecular systems and their dynamics. It is operated in collaboration with Simone Techert (Göttingen) and Franz Hennies (Lund), see also: Collaborative effort
