The design concept and construction of several beamlines dedicated to X-ray absorption spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence analysis, X-ray diffraction and X-ray small-angle scattering with micron and submicron spatial resolution in the photon energy range of 2.1–30 keV have been done since 1998.
The main feature of the beamlines is a combination of several analytical methods in one experimental station in a wide energy range. A banding magnet (KMC-2 beamline) and BESSY 7-T wavelength shifter (Microfocus beamline) are used as the sources. Concept of various types of monochromators based on Si, SiGe and multilayer mirrors is developed and realized. These beamlines are opening for BESSY users the possibility to perform experiments exploring microfocused X-ray beam in combination with advanced experimental methods.
