After closure of the neutron source BER II, the high-field facility is no longer available for neutron scattering experiments. The restructuring of the High Field Magnet Department is in progress. No final decision has yet been made about a further use of the magnet system at HZB for other scientific areas. In the long run the use of the magnet at another neutron scattering facility is desired. Conceptual studies to convert the magnet from the current superconducting-resistive hybrid magnet to a completely superconducting coil system with magnetic fields up to 30 T and above were completed.
