VUV-HHG spectroscopy

Photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) with photons in the Vacuum Ultraviolet (VUV) wavelength range is the most direct way of probing the occupied valence electronic structure. Consequently, femtosecond time-resolved VUV PES can be used to directly follow he evolution of the valence electronic structure of matter during ultrafast phenomena such as chemical reactions or phase transitions.

In our laser lab we use femtosecond VUV pulses from high-order harmonic generation (HHG) for time-resolved PES on gas-phase, liquid and solid samples.
