Cluster Ion Trap

Cryogenic linear ion trap setup for XMCD and XAS of
size-selected clusters, molecular ions, and complexes.

We are operating a unique cryogenic linear ion trap with strong magnetic field option. This setup consists of a magnetron gas aggregation source, DR and RF ion guides, 4000 amu quadrupole mass filter, 15 K ion trap, and reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometer. The experiment was designed and is operated by HZB in collaboration with the groups of B. von Issendorff (Universität Freiburg), T. Möller (Technische Universität Berlin), and A. Terasaki (Kyushu University and Toyota Technological Institute).
