This is of interest especially if you work with large intermediate files. If the filename contains ".nodebug." all debug information is stripped but the rest remains without loss, reducing the file size to 63%. If the name contains ".float." additionally the neutron position is restricted to float values (reduction to 41%). Compressed files may be read with Vitess 2.8, compress mode is coded in the first 4 bytes. ================================= Parallel Pipes and Grid Computing ================================= Multiple parallel pipes help to exploit the compute power of quadcore CPUs, multi CPU nodes and computer grids. With some care you may set up your simulation, store it with the GUI "Save Grid Command" to a file, and execute it with the help of the new TOOLS/grid_command.pl. It helps to adjust absolute path names and to apply a special patch to a Tk source file.
