The visible light covers only a very restricted range of the entire electromagnetic spectrum, which is shown here over a range 18 decades.

A different type, the particle waves, specifically the neutron waves emitted from a research reactor, can be chosen to cover an energy and wavelength range of 11 decades (!) of the electromagnetic spectrum. In the figure the frequency is measured in units of Hertz (Hz = 1/s) and the energy in units of electron volt (eV, 1 eV = energy of a particle charged with one unit charge after acceleration with a voltage of 1 Volt).
