The access to the single user license of Comsol Multiphysics (http://www.femlab.de/) is organized by the LaMMB calendar. As a virtual experiment the finite element simulation can offer valuable assistance during the construction of an experiment. The speciality of Comsol Multiphysics is the combination of different physical aspects in a FE-simulation. So it's possible for example to calculate the influence of the temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity on the warming of a current-carrying wire. The installation includes the modules heat transfer, structural mechanics, AC/DC and CAD-import.
