HZB experts at the Parliamentary Evening of the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft

Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, as a major German research institute for energy research, took part in the Parliamentary Evening of the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG). Prof. Dr. Bernd Rech of the HZB Institute for Silicon Photovoltaics was the scientific director for the event. The patron of the evening dedicated to “The Energy of Tomorrow and Beyond” was Edelgard Bulmahn, Vice-President of the German Bundestag.

The parliamentary evening of the DPG on 8 July 2016 brought together political decision-makers and scientists from all different fields to discuss and ponder the global energy supply. At various “topic tables”, experts gave their estimates on the potentials of different energy technologies. HZB researchers discussed with the parliamentarians above all the opportunities and challenges of artificial photosynthesis and photovoltaics.

The management thanks all HZB researchers involved in the evening for their commitment. With their support, we were able to convincingly demonstrate the benefits and potentials residing in research into novel materials for energy conversion and storage. Special thanks go to Prof. Dr. Bernd Rech for his scientific direction of the event.
