Abstract:
We perform optical simulations for bifacial 4-terminal perovskite/tandem solar modules, which are based on passivated emitter rear totally diffused (PERT) silicon solar cells. The modules are considered with realistic optical constants for glass and ethylene-vinyl acetate encapsulant. The solar cells are pyramidally textured on the front. As perovskite material, we use the triple-cation perovskite Cs0.05(MA0.17Fa0.83)0.95Pb(I0.83Br0.17)3. Switching from a silicon to a 4T perovskite-silicon module increases the output power density by about 5 mW/cm2 at 30%. Bifacial illumination under 30% albedo leads to an increase of about 6 mW/cm2 for both designs. Having another perovskite subcell at the back – hence a 6-terminal design – would lead to an additional 2 mW/cm2 increase.
