HZB Science Slam
What is a Science Slam and how does it work?
Science Slam is a science communication format where scientists explain their research projects in short 10-minute-talks that are easy to follow. The audience is the judge and jury, voting using numbered cards. This audience participation provokes discussion as they begin to talk about science and the presentation.
In Science Slams, the scientists do not talk about ‘textbook knowledge’, but they explain individual aspects or fundamentals of their own research projects. The important thing is not primarily the scientific outcome of their work, but to explain the topic in an understandable, entertaining and concise way.
Do you want to join in?
Have you ever thought about sharing your scientific passion with people outside your own field of interest? The HZB Science Slam offers the opportunity to present your research to a live audience at the evening of the 9th December during the User Meeting 2015. There are no limits for the design of your presentations. Live experiments, props, slides, and creative or visual presentations: Choose whatever you like to share your enthusiasm for your projects on stage!
To make sure you feel comfortable on stage we offer a professional coaching beforehand, that can be done online. If you´re interested, please indicate that in your registration to the user meeting or contact Britta Höpfner (Britta.email@example.com).
