User Coordination

This Joint HZB-PTB Satellite Workshop to this years' User Meeting organized in cooperation with the National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB) is the 1st in the BESSY III Foresight Workshop series.

Delmic in cooperation with HZB is organising an educational workshop, which will focus on cathodoluminescence imaging for photovoltaic materials and various possibilities of this technique for characterisation and determining light-emitting properties at the nanoscale. 

This one-day workshop will consist of the talks by the field experts from Delmic, Helmholtz Center Berlin and Solvoltaics.

Welcome to the HZB Photon School 2020, to be held in the Wilhelm-Conrad-Röntgen-Campus (Berlin-Adlershof) from 9th to 20th March, 2020.


This school is primarily aimed at master students and early stage researchers in physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, life or environmental sciences. Students will be introduced to synchrotron and laboratory-based


The two-week program consists of basic and specialized lectures including exercises, given by experienced teachers , who are HZB scientists or BESSY II super-users from our partner universities and research centers. The second week is dedicated to hands-on training at several BESSY II experimental stations and X-ray laboratories . Participants will get a vivid experience by joining up to two experiments to work in small groups. The second week's activities will teach participants how to collect, analyze, interpret and present own data amongst peers and specialists.
