Project HERCULES

Second HERCULES Workshop

Oct. 10-11. 2016, Berlin-Adlershof

The closing workshop of the HERCULES project will showcase the main results and highlights of the work carried out in the project. Furthermore, it aims at providing a platform for discussion of these results in the broader context of photovoltaics research, development and industrialization in Europe.

The HERCULES workshop will provide an overview on the innovative n-type monocrystalline c-Si device structures based on back-contact solar cells with alternative junction formation, as well as related structures including hybrid concepts (homo-heterojunction) developed in the three project years. We will show how key results and processes developed within HERCULES could already be transferred to the industrial scale by the industrial partners, demonstrating 25% efficiency at cell level and paving the way to ultra-high efficiencies for the next generation of c-Si based solar cells devices.

In order to provide an interesting overview not only over the specific topics of the HERCULES project, but also give a broader perspective on research on energy materials, we have teamed up with the BESSY II Foresight Workshop on Energy Materials Research (https://www.helmholtz-berlin.de/user/workshops/energy/index_en.html).

This workshop aims at a discussion of energy materials research on dedicated infrastructures that allow guided design, synthesis and analysis, research of basic principles, and the transfer to applications for the society.

Scope of the workshop

On Monday, the joint HERCULES and BESSY II Foresight Workshop on Energy Materials Research will start with introductory overview talks on the main topics of Energy Materials Research.

On Tuesday, the workshops will run in two parallel sessions, Foresight and HERCULES. The HERCULES workshop will provide an overview on the R&D and industrialization results achieved within HERCULES and aims at an intense exchange of ideas. It will be completed by a common discussion on current needs and further expectations regarding photovoltaics research, development and productions in Europe

A poster session, a facility visit and a public lecture will also be part of the joint program.

The workshop is free of charge to the participants, an online registration is required.

Please get in touch with us if you are interested in presenting a poster.
