Future Developments

X-ray microscopy is still a young field, with exciting potential for the future. In principle, any form of visible light microscope can also be built as an X-ray microscope, but with much higher resolution. Examples include a phase contrast X-ray microscope for enhancement of specimen contrast or a confocal X-ray microscope for improved depth resolution.
