At IUPAC 13th International Conference on Novel Materials and their Synthesis in October, 2017 at Nanjing Tech University, China, Prof. Norbert Koch was awarded for his research.

At the IUPAC NMS-XIII conference in Nanjing, Professor Dr. Norbert Koch has been awarded the "Distinguished Award 2017 for Novel Materials and their Synthesis "of IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) and of the Conference Committee. Koch received the award for his research on hybrid electronic materials and their interfaces in electronic and optoelectronic components. He is Professor at the Department of Physics at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, member of IRIS Adlershof and head of a joint research group at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin.

The joint research group "Molecular Systems" is a cooperation between Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The research focus lies on organic semiconductors and their interfaces to inorganic semiconductors as well as metals. The group is using mostly synchrotron-based methods to reveal the electronic structure (photoelectron spectroscopy) as well as the geometric arrangement of the molecules (x-ray diffraction).
