Milena Meschenmoser completed the best apprenticeship of her year. After finishing her training as a precision mechanic, she now has new plans.

Milena Meschenmoser completed her apprenticeship as a precision mechanic as the best in Berlin. From 2014 to 2018, she completed the practical part of her training at the HZB workshop in Wannsee.

Milena Meschenmoser attributes her success to the very good support and the well-organized training process at the HZB: "During the apprenticeship we actually only dealt with exam-relevant tasks and were given a lot of time to prepare for the exam. We were allowed to work independently and assume responsibility right from the start of our training. My trainer, Christian Remus, was always available to answer questions and helped me out".

After successfully completing her training in February 2018, Milena Meschenmoser continued working at HZB for six months. For about one and a half years she has been involved in the youth and training representation (JAV) of HZB. From autumn 2018, she will be studying metal technology and politics as a teacher at Technische Universität Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin.

Dr Hebatalla Elnaggar is setting up a new Helmholtz Investigator Group at HZB. At BESSY II, the materials scientist will investigate so-called magnons in magnetic perovskite thin films. The aim is to lay the foundations for future terahertz magnon technology: magnonic devices operating in the terahertz range could process data using a fraction of the energy required by the most advanced semiconductor devices, and at speeds up to a thousand times faster.
