Call for Proposals 2027-I
The semester 2027-I will start on 25 January 2027 and will end on 27 June 2027 and comprises 17 weeks of Multi Bunch, 1 week of Single Bunch (week 8), and 1 week of low-alpha (week 25).
| Deadline for proposal submission - 1 September 2026, 23:59 (CET) |
Applications for instrument time may only submitted via the general access tool GATE.
Please find the list of all available instruments HERE.
NEW FEATURE: Continuation of a previous experiment
Starting in 2027-I, the new feature "Continuation" will be available in GATE. Continuation allows to continue a previous experiment without having to start a new proposal submission process. For a continuation some criteria must be fulfilled and your proposal list in GATE will inform you whether a continuation of your proposal is possible. GATE creates a copy of the previous proposal and assigns a new proposal number. Some proposal data must be updated, and a progress report must be submitted.
PLEASE NOTE: Continuations are also being reviewed and do not guarantee experiment time.
NEW Instruments in user operation
ECCOS@BElChem-PGM
The ECCOS@BElChem-PGM station was upgraded with the most recent Near-Ambient-Pressure photoelectron spectrometer (NAP-XPS) AEOLOS from SPECS. Its increased electron collection efficiency and the large linear range of its AD-CMOS detector extend the experimental capabilities of the station for the users. Please contact Michael Hävecker for more information.
PRESTO@KMC-1
PRESTO replaces the former HiKE endstation at KMC-1. After commissioning, PRESTO will be available - with restrictions to UHV-HAXPES only - for the the 2nd half of 2027-I. For more detailed information please contact Angelo Perez Rillera and Roberto Felix Duarte.
Instruments and Beamlines with NO availability
PM3
The PM3 beamline will be taken out of user service and will no longer be available. Please contact Torsten Kachel for more detailed information.
THz
The THz beamline will not be available in 2027-I. The instrumental setup will be transfered to the Metrology Light Source (MLS) and will be available for user operation after the relocation. For more detailed information please contact Tarek Al Said.
High-Field Diffractometer@UE46
The High-Field Diffractometer at UE46 was taken out of user service in 2026. For more detailed information, please contact Eugen Weschke.
Transnational access support through NEPHEWS
Strategic access for quantum technology (STRAQTECH)
In the framework of the LEAPS-INNOV activity STRAQTECH we explicitly are inviting beamtime applications from the research field of Quantum Technology for the instruments GELEM Dipole (soft-x-ray photoemission and absorption) and SPEEM (photoemission electron microscopy with variable light polarization). Please contact Anna Makarova (quantum@helmholtz-berlin.de) for more detailed information.
