Abstract:
In the last 10 years, reflectometry has proven to be a valuable tool in analyzing electrochemically active boundary layers in batteries. The specifics of this measurement method and its experimental requirements will be discussed in this chapter. In addition, the complementary applicability of neutrons and X-rays is explained in more detail, as well as their differences in interaction with matter. Since reflectometry measurements are very suitable for investigating planar silicon electrodes and solid electrolyte interface layers, various publications on these two subfields are presented and compared. Finally, state-of-the-art is summarized, and perspectives are given for the future development of this promising analytical technique in materials science.
