SAVE THE DATE: Adlershofer Science Forum on 11.11.2014 with Poster Session
The Adlershof Science Forum is encouraging exchange among scientists in Adlershof.
Please save the date to participate on 11. November 2014 at „Adlershof Science Forum“ (AFF) of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and IGAFA. The event is meant to encourage exchange and communication between scientists working at Adlershof.
Registration and the call for posters is open until 30.10.2014 here. The best poster will be rewarded with 500 Euro. We really want young scientists and students to attend the event ! Please encourage them to participate.
Topics in 2014 are:

- hybrid materials
- Interfaces and boundary surfaces
We are planning three Workshops with short talks and two poster sessions. We will serve pancakes at 11.11 as in some parts of Germany, carnival is starting.

- Green hydrogen with PEC electrolysers: New insights into transport processesOne method of storing solar energy is to use PEC electrolysers to produce hydrogen. However, scaling up this technology remains challenging. Now, a team at the HZB Institute for Solar Fuels has used 2D fluorescence imaging and particle velocimetry to observe the movement of ions and dissolved gases within the electrolyte during electrolysis. These new insights may prove useful in the development of larger PEC electrolysers.
- New contact material boosts the efficiency of perovskite solar cellsA newly developed material for the electron contact improves the efficiency of single perovskite solar cells and perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells. The new material is based on a carborane molecule. It offers several advantages over the standard material C60, as shown by the study led by Steve Albrecht’s team. The new material has since been patented and is already commercially available.
- From Colombia to Berlin: Finding My Way in a New WorldIt was almost 11 p.m. when I arrived in Berlin. After a long journey from Colombia, all I wanted was to get to my accommodation, take a shower, and finally sleep.
Instead, I missed my train. Thinking it would follow the same route as the previous one as it would in my hometown of Medellín I confidently boarded the next train. About twenty minutes later, I realized something was wrong. I was heading in the wrong direction.
As if that was not enough, my phone battery was almost empty. Suddenly, I found myself alone in a city I had never visited before, late at night, speaking a language I did not understand, with no idea how to get back.
This was not how I had imagined the beginning of my first international trip....
