The Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) will present itself from 15 to 17 May at INTERSOLAR in Munich, the world's largest solar trade fair. The HZB is one of the world's leading research centres in the field of solar energy and presents the latest developments in photovoltaics and solar fuels. The HZB offers a wide range of cooperation opportunities for companies - from contract research to joint research projects.

Technology transfer projects and consulting

The Competence Center Thin Film and Nanotechnology for Photovoltaics (PVcomB) and the Helmholtz Innovation Lab HySPRINT are two institutions at the HZB that are specialized in knowledge and technology transfer and have a lot of experience. We are happy to advise you about our offers and discuss concrete project ideas at our booth (A2.576).

The presentations at INTERSOLAR at a glance

HZB booth (A2.576)

  • Researchers present CIGS solar cells and their manufacturing processes.
  • We present highly efficient silicon perovskite tandem solar cells developed in the Helmholtz Innovation Lab HySPRINT with partners from industry. Different perovskite print patterns on different substrates (glass, PVC, paper) will be shown.
  • HZB researchers have developed a functional prototype (Photovoltaic-integrated Electrolyser) for solar hydrogen generation.
  • An outdoor test facility of the HZB makes it possible to measure the performance of solar modules under real environmental conditions and over longer periods of time.

Photovoltaics can not only be installed on roofs, but can often also be integrated sensibly into facades. In order to make the knowledge available to architects, builders, investors and urban planners, HZB and several partners have established a consulting position for building-integrated photovoltaics. This offers product-neutral, independent advice, workshops and further training - and seeks dialogue with interested parties at INTERSOLAR.

About the Intersolar

The INTERSOLAR Europe is the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry and its partners and takes place annually at the Messe München exhibition center in Munich, Germany. The event’s exhibition and conference both focus on the areas of photovoltaics, solar thermal technologies, solar plants, as well as grid infrastructure and solutions for the integration of renewable energy. Since being founded 27 years ago, Intersolar has become the most important industry platform for manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, service providers and partners of the solar industry.

Photovoltaics are growing faster than expected in the global energy system

Dramatic cost reductions and the rapid expansion of production capacities make photovoltaics one of the most attractive technologies for a global energy turnaround. Not only the electricity sector, but also transport, heating, industry and chemical processes will in future be supplied primarily by solar power, because it is already the cheapest form of electricity generation in large parts of the world. This is where opportunities and challenges lie - at the level of the energy system as well as for research and industry. Leading international photovoltaic researchers from the Global Alliance for Solar Energy Research Institutes describe the cornerstones of future developments in an article published in the journal "Science" on 31 May.
