What we offer at HZB
- early scientific independence for excellent postdoctoral researchers
- funding of a least 300 000 € p.a. for five years to lead a research group

Conditions
You are welcome to apply, if you have the following qualifications:
- academic age: between 2 and 6 years after your doctorate
- international research experience
- an exceptional scientific record
- an innovative research project in one of HZB's research fields
- strong motivation to set up and lead your own research group

- Ultra Fast Electron Diffraction and Imaging at a cw SRF Photoinjector: Development of new modalities
- Sustainable and High efficiency cw SRF systems: development of new coating strategies for > 4K superconductors
- Advanced beam dynamics for 4th generation light sources: combining beam separation schemes with longitudinal phase space shaping

- KlarText Prize for Hanna TrzesniowskiThe chemist has been awarded the prestigious KlarText Prize for Science Communication by the Klaus Tschira Foundation.
- Welcome: 16 young people start their apprenticeshipOn 1 September, 16 young people began their apprenticeship, dual study programme or voluntary year at HZB. A welcome event, initial insights into the world of research and a communication seminar marked the start of this new phase in their lives.
- Helmholtz Doctoral Award for Hanna TrzesniowskiDuring her doctoral studies at the Helmholtz Centre Berlin, Hanna Trzesniowski conducted research on nickel-based electrocatalysts for water splitting. Her work contributes to a deeper understanding of alkaline water electrolysis and paves the way for the development of more efficient and stable catalysts. On 8 July 2025, she received the Helmholtz Doctoral Prize, which honours the best and most original doctoral theses in the Helmholtz Association.
