Abstract:
In this thesis, two electrode materials for a new generation of post lithium-ion batteries were investigated by means of operando X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy probing element specifically the electronic, chemical, and geometrical changes occurring in the electrode materials upon battery cycling. The operando measurements were complemented by ex situ hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (HAXPES), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and XANES experiments on disassembled electrode samples previously (dis-)charged until relevant potential levels.
