Job Opportunities

The digitalization of our society is leading to a dynamic increase in data processing posing economical, ecological and performance challenges for current electronic technologies. Our group aims to tackle these pressing challenges by making use of the unique features of strongly correlated materials. For this, we investigate the underlying fundamental physics of spin-related phenomena and their ultrafast dynamics. To interpret our data, we perform theoretical calculations based on multiplet and DFT methods to understand the underlying mechanisms dictating the properties of these systems.

Our experimental toolkit is based on advanced X-ray spectroscopies such as X-ray Magnetic Dichroism (XMD) and Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering (RIXS) performed at synchrotrons and x-ray free-electron lasers. Currently, we focus on the following systems:

  1. Magnetic materials: with a focus on THz magnon excitations in antiferro- and alter-magnetic systems (see our recent publications such as [1, 2, 3]).
  2. Energy materials: with a focus on transition metal oxides used for photocatalysts (see our recent publications such as [1, 2])

Join Us!

We currently have several openings on different levels ranging from research internships (HiWi) to Bachelor/Master thesis and PhD.

HZB is diverse and welcomes qualified applications from people with varied backgrounds. We aim to increase the number of women in the field of research and teaching and therefore encourage female researchers to apply.
