SNI2022 – Abstract submission extended to 1 May 2022
The 5th Conference for Research with Synchrotron Radiation, Neutrons and Ion Beams at Large Facilities takes place form 5 - 7 September 2022 in Berlin. In response to a great demand the deadline for the abstract submission to the SNI2022 conference has been extended to 1 May. Take this opportunity and submit your abstract by Sunday!

- The Early Bird rate of 180 € (regular) or 90 € (PhD students) is valid until 26. June.
- Registrations from HZB staff are charged internally, only the specification of a cost center is required.

- SEAlab accelerator project completed: Achievements and outlookThe SEAlab accelerator project successfully completed its final measurement campaign in summer 2026. The facility is now being dismantled, with many components set to be reused. The two accelerator physicists, Axel Neumann and Thorsten Kamps, explain what the project has achieved and provide an outlook for the future.
- BESSY II is back in operation after maintenance shutdownOn 7 September 2026, BESSY II was set into operation after a four-week shutdown. BESSY II is scheduled to resume full user operation on 22 September.
- Confirmed figures for the first time: Investments in BESSY are worthwhile for Berlin and GermanyAn impact analysis by DIW Econ demonstrates the scientific and economic value of BESSY II. Every euro invested yields three euros for Germany and as much as ten euros for the State of Berlin. Furthermore, the study provides an economic forecast for the construction of BESSY III.
The impact analysis was presented on 3 September 2026 to Dr Henry Marx, State Secretary for Science and Research in the Berlin Senate. He supports the investment and is a strong advocate for BESSY III.
