Laue

Laue apparatus

The Laue apparatus is mainly used to prepare oriented samples for other experiments. The absolute orientation accuracy is ~ 1°, for multiple sample mounts a relative accuracy of ~ 0.2° can be achieved. The set up is very flexible and allows the orientation of large crystal arrays as well as very small samples.

Data are read and stored digitally using an image plate. For analysis software like Orient Express can be used.

Oriented samples can be transferred to the wire saw or polisher for further treatment or to other experiments (neutron investigations, magnetisation, specific heat etc. …) without loosing the orientation.
