Solid state X-ray emission and NEXAFS with extended temperature range for open port use

The SolidFlexRIXS endstation is dedicated to resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) and near edge x-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) investigations of solids. It features a x-ray sensitive single photon-counting detector. In 2017, a delay line detector (DLD) and an avalanche photodiode (APD) were installed and successfully tested. These upgrades have broadened the range of application of the endstation to time resolved measurements.

The endstation works in UHV. The sample holder is mounted on a continuous flow cryostat for measurements down to 20 K. A custom-designed sample holder is available for sample annealing up to 1500 K during experiments.
