Registration open: HZB Machine Learning Summer School & Hackathon 2021

Registration for the HZB Machine Learning Summer School is now open! Building on the great response last year, the HZB Machine Learning Summer School will be offered again in 2021. You will be able to learn from experts how to leverage machine learning to solve problems in the natural sciences and how to apply your knowledge in exciting real-world hackathon projects, all free of charge. Applications can be submitted until August 22, 2021.

This year`s summer school targets master and PhD students who would like to gain knowledge in machine learning and students with a data science/computer science/informations background how are already have some experience with machine learning. Our aim is to give participants the opportunity to listen to stimulating lectures and to (further) develop hands-on AI competence in hackathon projects from September 10-17:

• The experienced groups will start with two days filled with a mixture of lectures, keynotes, and a thorough introduction into their hackathon project. The introduction will be followed by three full days diving deep into their hackathon project.
• The beginner groups will participate in a four-day lecture series on machine learning basics, including techniques of deep learning and reinforcement learning, effectively combined with hands-on tutorials.
