Abstract:
Measurementsofintrinsicvortexlattice(VL)dynamicsinsuperconductorsasforinstanceVLmeltingor Bragg glasstransitionsaretypicallyperformedbye.g.macroscopictransportorsurfacesensitive measurementtechniques.Therefore,usuallythinsuperconductingfilmsareusedformicroscopic measurementsofVLdynamics.Adirectconsequenceofusingthinfilmsisthestronginfluenceof surface effectsanddefects,samplequalityandgeometry.Wesucceededtocombinetimeresolved stroboscopic smallangleneutronscattering(SANS)withanadvanced,timevaryingmagneticfieldsetup allowing toextendthetimewindowforslowdynamicalprocessestotherangeof10msuptoseveral minutes.Thenewresultsdemonstratethatitispossibletoobservedirectlytheintrinsicdynamicsofthe VL inabulkniobiumsinglecrystalonamicroscopicscalewithoutlimitationsduetosurfaceeffects. Field andtemperaturedependentrelaxationtimesoftheVLfrom100to500mscouldbeobservedfor the firsttime,allowingtodirectlymeasuretheVLofthetiltmodulus.Thisnewexperimentaltechnique providesthepossibilitytostudyalsothedynamicalmagneticpropertiesofvariousstronglycorrelated electronsystems.
