Abstract:
Abstract. Many monochromators rely on quadrature encoders for positioning optical elements like gratings or mirrors. In most cases the required accuracy is significantly higher than the pitch of the encoders and an interpolation scheme becomes necessary. The accuracy of this procedure can be significantly enhanced, if signal errors in the detection systems are compensated [1].
